How to Hide a Baby Bump

Biggest tip for me personally: Don't waste money on maternity wear, just size up in normal clothes so you don't sacrifice your style (and money) on temporary items you’ll outgrow in a few weeks/months.

If anything, buy a belly band like Ingrid & Isabel’s Bellaband to not only give yourself support, but it’s great to wear under your clothes or over the waist of your denim/pants that can no longer button all the way.

Embrace Loose Blouses and Flowy Tops

Loose blouses and flowy tops are your new best friend. They offer extra fabric to conceal your growing belly while keeping you comfy. Opt for styles like peplum tops or those with an empire waist to disguise your early bump.

Dark Colors and Large-Scale Prints

Dark colors and large-scale prints are perfect for camouflaging a growing baby bump. Darker colors can also be slimming, helping to hide your little bit of a bump, while busy prints distract from your changing body.

Boxy Shapes and Plaid Shirts

Boxy tops, boxy styles, and plaid shirts are great options for hiding a pregnancy bump. The boxy shapes don't cling to your body, giving you a little while longer to keep your exciting news a secret.

Maternity Pants and Belly Bands

Switch to maternity pants and use belly bands early on. These are lifesavers for pregnant women as they provide comfort and support for your growing bump without drawing unwanted attention. Maternity jeans are also a good way to stay stylish and comfy.

Fitted Clothes with Layers

You might think fitted clothes are a no-go, but they can work if you layer them right. Pair a fitted top with an oversized t-shirt or a loose cardigan. This style trick is one of the best ways to keep your pregnancy belly under wraps.

New Accessories and Flare Dresses

Use new accessories like scarves and statement necklaces to draw attention away from your stomach. Flare dresses are also a great option as they don’t cling to your growing belly.

Professional and Casual Looks

For professional women, stick to tailored blazers and structured jackets. These pieces give you a polished look while hiding your early bump. For casual days, a winter coat is the perfect excuse to keep things hidden.

Maternity Clothes When Ready

When the time comes, don’t shy away from maternity wear if that is what you feel most comfortable in. Maternity clothing is designed to flatter your new curves and support your body. I personally find Abercrombie to have great maternity wear. Also, transitioning to maternity clothes early on can make the whole experience more comfortable.

Above all, do what makes you feel good. Whether it’s rocking an oversized t-shirt or flaunting fitted clothes with confidence, the most important thing is your comfort.
