How to Add More Greens to Your Toddler's Diet: Strawberry Spinach Smoothie
Looking for ways to incorporate more greens into your toddler's diet? Try my delicious Strawberry Spinach Smoothie recipe. Packed with vitamins, minerals, and fiber, it's a fantastic way to introduce healthy greens in a kid-friendly manner. I’ve been making this for years, and Connor has been drinking it daily ever since he could use a straw.
What You’ll Need
Handful of greens (I use spinach and baby kale)
Fresh strawberries
Half a banana
Heaping cup of yogurt or nondairy yogurt
Milk (adjust based on desired consistency)
Optional: chia seeds and flax seeds
Instructions
Prepare in minutes with these simple steps:
Combine a large handful of greens, such as spinach and baby kale, with another handful of fresh strawberries in a blender. The natural sweetness of the strawberries helps mask the taste of the greens.
Add half a banana to the blender. Bananas provide both sweetness and a creamy texture to the smoothie.
Enhance the smoothie's creaminess by including a cup of yogurt or nondairy yogurt. This also contributes to your child's calcium intake.
Gradually pour milk into blender, adjusting the amount to achieve desired thickness.
For an added nutritional boost, add a teaspoon of chia seeds and flax seeds. These seeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, and other essential nutrients.
Connor and I drink this daily, typically in the morning. And to be honest, he drinks about three different types of smoothies throughout the day which keeps him regular. You can find another one, a savory smoothie here and I’ll be sure to share more recipes if you find this helpful!
